10 tips for your productive morning routine

Do you want more energy, focus and motivation for your workday? How about this: Successful people start their day with a morning routine. Of course it may look different for everyone. What you do each morning depends on your priorities, your life circumstances, and your personal desires.

Here I will present you with some options for a healthy and productive morning routine. Choose what pushes you further and what you want to spend some time doing in the morning.

1. Have a drink

Start your day with a healthy drink that will rehydrate you after the night. Coffee and black tea aren’t necessarily your best friends, as the caffeine they contain is more likely to dehydrate you. How about a glass of lemon water instead? It reactivates the fluid balance and also provides vitamin C. Even warm water is said to have a positive effect on the body and metabolism if you start the day with it. If you want something more: try golden milk (a turmeric drink).

2. Do your workout

Choose whether to start your day with a longer run, some weight training, or a short yoga session. The main thing is that you move. This stimulates circulation and provides many endorphins. It is healthy and activates you for everything that is to come today.

3. Breathe – very specifically

A short phase where you calm down, control your breathing and are completely with yourself. This is pure relaxation. It clears your conscience and prepares you for a creative day. If you want more, find a meditation that works for you. Whether sitting, lying or walking: the clarifying effect of meditation is best achieved if you find your own personal form.

4. It’s time for breakfast!

Even if you want to lose weight: breakfast is essential for your morning performance. Anyone who has ever sat in a meeting or tackled an important task at 11am with low blood sugar and no energy knows what I mean. If you want to avoid indulging in a quick (usually sugary, unhealthy) snack, start with a healthy breakfast of your choice. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, eggs, dairy, or other sources of protein (I usually have tofu, white beans, and vegan spreads on the table) will keep you fit and keep you going until lunch.

Can’t eat anything in the morning? Often it’s just a matter of when you get up. If you jump out of bed at 7 in the morning and go to work at 8, you probably won’t be hungry at 7:30. Then simply postpone breakfast until your first break in the office. The main thing is that you prepared the right thing for yourself, and did not buy a dessert somewhere.

Or you can simply get up a little earlier and make breakfast a part of your morning routine.

5. Be grateful. You have enough reasons.

Do you feel like your life isn’t going the way you want it to? Are things going badly? Do you feel left alone? Even in a situation like this, there are definitely enough things that happen that you can be grateful for.

  • The sun shines warmly
  • You are healthy
  • Your partner, your children are with you
  • Yesterday a stranger let you go through the supermarket checkout first
  • Your orchid has put out new flowers
  • Today you parked your car in a prohibited area and did NOT receive a fine

Make your choice: There are many wonderful events in your life that can fill you with gratitude. And this attracts you to the positive side of life. Think about what you can be grateful for, maybe even write it down. This way you start the day actively and in a positive mood.

6. Diary: the diary is not out!

Take some time (even just a little time) to put your thoughts on paper. Journaling doesn’t work exactly like a diary, because it’s not about what you’ve experienced (which would probably be best to write in the evening), but rather a method of coming to terms with yourself. It’s about you, your thoughts, your goals for the day. It’s the right time for you to write and get inspired. Or follow a pattern that works for you.

Journaling gives you the time and method to be completely with yourself and look to the future.

7. Get informed.

The morning is also a good time to advance your side project with a research session. Or reading the book you wanted to read for your job. Or follow a video course. Or reading the newspaper (online). Plan some training early in the morning and take everything you carry with you throughout the day.

8. Plan the roof.

If you weren’t thinking about what your day should look like yesterday, take some time and plan your day now. Identify the three most important tasks you want to complete. And please don’t let it affect you: the most important thing is what brings you closer to your goals. Urgent tasks sometimes seem like that, especially when they come from outside and are labeled “terribly important.” Most of the time they are important to the person who brought them to you, not so much to you and your goals.

If in doubt: The Eisenhower Matrix helps you evaluate tasks and align them according to your priorities.

9. Now comes the frog!

You are in tune with the new day and know what things you want to do today. Take the first step towards your success and take action. Eat that frog first, swallow the fattest toad first. Then choose the task from your list of the three most important to-dos of the day

  • What challenges you most
  • the most unpleasant thing is
  • totally bored or
  • What bothers you the most

and face them. This is the frog you should eat, the toad you should swallow now to have a relaxing day later. Once this task is completed, the rest of the day will only get better.

10. Please don’t do everything at once!

You’ve seen my tips for a good, healthy and productive morning routine. Here’s my bonus tip. Please don’t tackle everything at once. First, choose one or two methods to form your morning routine. It’s not about implementing everything that would be possible. It is important to find your morning routine very special and establish it as a habit. It takes a little time, but you can do it if you stick with it and don’t want to do too much at once.

Don’t have time for your morning routine? Who doesn’t have time to prepare a golden milk or simply a glass of warm water? Five minutes isn’t a problem for you either. The only important thing is to start small and have a morning routine. You can still expand it. Take it step by step and experience how you become more productive and happier.
